  1. Chlamydia is considered as one of the most common STDs in the United States.
  2. If untreated, Chlamydia can prevent a woman from conceiving a child.
  3. Chlamydia trachomatis is the bacteria associated with chlamydia. Which can damages a woman’s uterus or fallopian tubes and can pelvic inflammatory disease (PID).
  4. Transmitting of chlamydia can be transferred vaginal, anal, or oral sex.
  5. Chlamydia can have no symptoms. Symptoms if noticed can occur within 1 to 3 weeks.
  6. Symptoms experienced by women are abnormal vaginal discharge or a burning sensation when urinating.
  7. Symptoms experienced by men are abnormal discharge from their penis or a burning sensation when urinating. Itching and burning around penis can occur too.
  8. Chlamydia screening is recommended for all sexually active women age 25 years and younger. An annual screening test also is recommended for older women with risk factors for Chlamydia. All pregnant women should have a screening test for Chlamydia.
    1. The best way avoid transmission of chlamydia is to abstinence or Latex condoms.

10.  Chlamydia can be cured with antibiotics azithromycin or doxycycline. HIV-positive and HIV negative people with chlamydia are treated the same way.
