2. recurrent ear infections in kids can lead to speech delay or sometimes hearing loss

3. also called otitis media

4. occurs when fluid builds up in the middle ear

5. antibiotics are NOT always necessary

6. signs and symptoms in a young child: fever, pulling on ear. drainage, crying more than usually, and difficuly sleeping

7. in an adult it is mostly pain

8. bacteria causes most ear infections-streptococcus pneumoniae

9. breast feeding your baby redues the risk of ear infections

10. ear infections are more common in children who are around cigarette smoke
