3 Major Positive Emotions Required to Achieve Success

3 Major Positive Emotions Required to Achieve Success
by Professor Jay Snaric

Here I want to introduce and stress three positive emotions necessary in the achievement of success.  This could be for weight loss or anything else. They are hope, faith, and enthusiasm.  These three emotions must accompany you on your journey to success.  Let’s look at each of them.

1.  Hope
Hope is what keeps us alive.  I’m not overstating this truth.  There has been much written on this topic.  Hope is to look forward with confidence and expectation.  Without hope, nothing can be accomplished.

“If you lose hope, somehow you lose the vitality that keeps life moving, you lose that courage to be, that quality that helps you go on in spite of it all.
Everything that is done in the world is done by hope.”
Martin Luther King, Jr. (1929 – 1968) Leader, Human Civil Rights

2. Faith
Faith is to follow through devotedly with actions that are in alignment with achieving your desire even though there is no proof or guarantee that your desire will be achieved.  Faith is to have reliance or trust in something without proof.  Faith is to believe without evidence. Continued and unwavering faith that you will achieve permanent weight loss (or anthing else) will be rewarded with actually seeing the image you hold in your mind of yourself at your destination weight when you look into the mirror.

“Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe.”
St. Augustine(354 – 430) Philosopher and Theologian.

 3. Enthusiasm

The origin of the word enthusiasm is en-theos, or in God.  It was used to describe the overwhelming joy that was experienced when one found God.  In modern use, the religious significance has been lost, but the power of enthusiasm remains.  Enthusiasm is more contagious than the flu in January.  It spreads like wildfire.  It uplifts all of those around you.

When you uplift those around you, you ultimately uplift yourself.

Why does enthusiasm uplift those around you? The answer to this question is obvious.  All we need to do is look at the following synonyms of enthusiasm: eagerness, interest, fervor, passion, gusto, zeal, zest, keenness, excitement, fire.  People like excitement, eagerness, and passion, and they want to be part of it and contribute to it.

This positive environment generates the energy that will uplift all involved.

“Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson(1803 – 1882) American essayist, philosopher, poet, Transcendentalist

On your journey to achieving your ultimate destination of permanent weight loss (or anything else) make enthusiasm your sidekick each step of the way, for enthusiasm will help provide the fuel necessary to overcome the obstacles along the way.
