Blood Pressure: Sneaky, Silent, and Deadly

There comes a time in our life when we suddenly realize the years are flying by, and we haven’t really paid much attention to our lifestyle or health.  After all, aren’t we indestructible? Probably up to age 40, but from there we find aches, pains, twinges, glasses, and back pain – all a nagging background in our lives – but we shake it off and carry on.
 
It’s a fact that most men and many women haven’t seen a doctor in years. Well, unless you have a definite health problem, it’s the way most of us carry on. Although living like this isn’t necessarily wise, there are a few things you can watch out for in your daily wanderings that could save your life.
 
Blood pressure is one of the big ones! It can be the warning sign for major health problems coming your way. As a person working and busy with life, you put off seeing a doctor on a regular basis. So here’s a tip. You’ve been having a good time eating and drinking whatever, and you wake up in the morning feeling tired, groggy, and cranky. You look in the mirror and your eyes look swollen with big bags under them.You close your fingers and it feels as though you’re wearing leather gloves that are a size too small. You may have a slight wet cough, or be a little short of breath as you get ready for your day. The chances are your blood pressure is up, and now is the time to check it.
 
You can go to the doctors – which we already discussed isn’t likely – or you can check your own. You can buy your own blood pressure cuff at the store or use the BP machine at the pharmacy. The important point is to “Checked It”, because it is a big warning sign of your health. And if your BP is high, you must go to the doctors. This could be the difference between a massive stroke or heart attack and living.
