This course is specifically for the public and not health care providers such as doctors, nurses, paramedics, radiologists, therapists, dentists, pharmacists, etc. Healthcare providers take a different course called Basic Life Support or BLS for healthcare providers.

Even if you are not a health care provider knowing how to provide CPR or cardiopulmonary resuscitation can be very important, and even required by many professions. It saves lives! It is also crucial to know if any emergency situation should arise in your family.

HeartSaver CPR for the public is 100% approved by the American Heart Association. The course includes:

  • Adult automated external defibrillator training
  • Infant automated external defibrillator training
  • Adult comprehensive cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Infant comprehensive cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Adult choking management
  • Child or infant choking management

After you have completed the CPR course, you will then be given the American Heart Association HeartSaver CPR card immediately. The course usually takes around 3 hours or so depending on the number of students in the class. It is important to take the class at an AHA authorized site that has an interactive and stress-free environment.
